Sabela Foundation
Why a Foundation?
To build you need to start from the ground and there is an obvious necessity to have a strong foundation for your building to stand the taste of time. This is the start of us showing the world we are serious about the future of Sabela Music Projects and our work. This is our investment in the young, talented, gifted but not fortunate enough to afford.
Sabela Foundation is the charity side of our work in the arts. We set up the Sabela Foundation in 2009 to give something back to Africa and its growing talented communities. The Foundation will implement programmes to improve the social and economic welfare and creative skills within these communities by providing children with access to arts education, facilities and opportunities.
“The sounds of our existence…the cadence of our lives…the melodies of our hearts are all represented, enveloped, moulded and embodied in a multitude of musical expressions. Music touches every facet of our lives, giving us hope in moments of despair, ecstasy in moments of passion, victory in struggle and courage in conflict”
No, we don’t just want to be part of producing the next great musical at the West End and Broadway. Yes, we do plan to provide some of the finest world music services and products you’ll find just about anywhere. We want to groom our own talent, help unidentified talent see the way. In doing so we’re planning to provide the music you live by, love with, cry because of, laugh at and sing along to. We shall specialise in reality, one real live someone reaching out to another real live someone. We will work with those special voices, those incredible songs, those amazing musicians, those undeniably charismatic entertainers who reach into our souls and make us sit up and take notice.
Arts Education continues to be the key focus of the Foundation. In 2009 we are building relations with schools in Bulawayo Zimbabwe and maintain their arts in education programmes. Eventually we will target other schools in Zimbabwe, Southern Africa & the rest of the continent. This is our way of making a big difference in regions where many of the talented children have no access to education, facilities, transport, opportunities and at times food. In addition to the three major projects currently underway, two more projects have now been earmarked for 2010. More info coming here soon. The Sabela Foundation will be working closely with Sabela artists, their communities, working with an independent charity partners who share the same goals as us. A board of trusties is wholly responsible for the administration of the Sabela Foundation.
As we speak, the Sabela Foundation is laying the building blocks of prosperity across the African continent, and soon you’ll see where we’re making a difference. Our objective is, simply, to create a foundation for the main stream arts business entity that authors the activities of our amazingly gifted group of individuals to produce, distribute, promote, publish and perform musical offerings.
