The Artiste

With voice already compared to Lauryn Hill, maybe with a little bit of Erica Badu, laced with the power and style of Mama Africa (Miriam Makeba) and a music just discovered, my name is Tsungai Tsikirai, musically known as TT.

TT was born Tsungai Tsikirai in Bulawayo, to a family of 7, six girls and a boy, and promises to be one of the best female voices to come out of Zimbabwe. When asked, How did you get into the arts, this is what she had to say: “I was always guilty of getting my sisters to do all the work round the house while l went for drama or auditions for music in my home town of Bulawayo. I was lucky enough they supported me because l wouldn’t have pursued my music if they where expecting me to do all my chores as well as my homework because my father was always strict on the grades.”

Music & Influences

“I would say the need to communicate is the force behind my music. I write and sing songs because I am seeking to understand and to be understood, I try to share my experiences and those of others with the world in the hope that it will bring us all together, and music does bring people together, wouldn’t u agree?”

My music style has “always been a difficult one to define! Most of the times I let people tell me what they think my music comes under because honestly, when I sing or write, I am influenced by all kinds of sounds, mostly jazz, RnB, and afrobeat. What comes out is a totally new sound to me and l love that about music, there is still more sounds to be discovered.”

“I love and appreciate all kinds of music and l am grateful for the talent that l have and all the people that recognise it and work towards letting it shine to the whole world.”
